Ujjain: Congress workers burn PM Modi’s effigy to protest BHU incident

Ujjain: Congress workers set Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s effigy on fire, here on Monday, to protest against the barbaric cane-charge made on the girl students of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Uttar Pradesh. Some Congress workers arrived at Shahid Park in the afternoon, and torched the PM’s effigy suddenly, shouting slogans.

Party leader Vivek Yadav strongly condemned the incident and the government, which he said had closed its eyes to police misbehavior against BHU girls, who had sought safety against incidents of molestation, while openly disregarding the fortnight long stay of most wanted terrorist Dawood Ibrahim’s wife in Mumbai, who had safely returned now to Pakistan.

Moreover, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who was usually melodramatic about protecting girls, had allowed his police to go berserk against BHU students, he added. Those present during the effigy burning included Arun Verma, Ashok Udaywal, Ashok Bhati, Darshan Thakur, Nana Tilkar, Ravi Bhadoria, Umesh Senger, Pritesh Sharma, Amber Mathur, Surendra Marmat, Rahul Thakur, Niranjan Chaurishiya, Jagdish Suryavanshi and Kavita Yadav.
