Samajwadi Party youth leader shot dead in Varanasi

Kirti Vyas murder case, Mumbai crime

Varanasi: A 35-year-old Samajwadi Party’s youth-wing leader was shot dead by unidentified assailants here today, the police said.

The deceased, Prabhu Sahni, was returning from Sankatha temple when the assailants pumped three bullets into his chest at the nearby Scindia Ghat, a police official said.

Sahni, who runs a family business of sailing boats on the Varanasi ghats, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. Prima facie the incident seems to be a fallout of an old enmity related to the berthing of boats at the ghat, the official said.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, he added.
