PM Narendra Modi against Hysteria over surgical Strikes

New Delhi : In a salutary warning aimed at cooling political tempers prime minister Narendra Modi has advised ministers against chest-thumping on the Indian Army’s surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC).

According to a report, Modi also said that ministers should not speak out of turn on the issue. At a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the PM made clear that only those authorised should speak on the strikes.

India attacked terrorist launch pads across the LoC on September 29, with the security forces killing 38 terrorists. However, Pakistan has refused to acknowledge that surgical strikes took place in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), calling it Indian propaganda.

At a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security, Modi was informed on the situation with a report by NSA Ajit Doval, detailing the terrorists’ plans to infiltrate into India. The NSA had briefed the PM and the Home Minister on the information, collected from intelligence agencies, prior to the meeting of the CCS. Nearly 100 terrorists are reportedly being prepped to cross the Line of Control (LoC) and launch attacks in India.
