Indore: Narcotics wing of state police has arrested two persons with charas worth Rs 50,000 on Saturday. The accused were on way to deliver the contraband when they were caught by the wing officials.
Additional director general of police (narcotics) Varun Kapoor said that a state level drive ‘Prahar’ is being run by the police against the drug peddlers and suppliers. During the drive, inspector Ashok Shrivastav of Indore unit received a tip-off that Dewas resident Ashfaq alias Alu khan and his friend Surendra Chouhan are indulged in supplying charas in the city. They were going to deliver the drug to someone near Teen Imli Square in an auto rickshaw on Saturday.
Acting on the tip-off, a team cordoned off the area and managed to arrest two persons from an auto rickshaw. During the search, charas worth Rs 50,000 was recovered from their possession. The accused had concealed the drugs behind iron plate in the rickshaw in order to mislead the police. The auto rickshaw was also seized by the police.
Accused Ashfaq and Surendra were booked under Section 8/20 of NDPS Act by inspector BD Tripathi and investigation into the case is underway.
Kapoor said that the drive against the suppliers of drugs is on and many other accused will also be arrested soon.
