High heels, skinny models, designer clothes, lots of oomph and all the fashion drama – but there’s a lot more to the Lakme Fashion Week than just runways, especially this August, we saw something new, something different, and something worth remembering. Here’s a sneak peek at the show’s surprise element:
Senior citizens scorch the ramp with style and glamour
The Day 1 of the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016 commenced with ‘Trapezoid’ by Schulen Fernandes for Wendell Rodricks. The trapezoid shape goes way back to the ancient times when Egyptians and Indian temples used this geometric form to draw doors, archways and windows. The collection specially crafted to fit different shapes and sizes focusing on Indian size chart for women had women flaunting their greys and curves.
Kareena flaunts her baby bumps
Mom-to-be Kareena Kapoor Khan looked splendid as the showstopper for Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s collection called Illuminate. The Ki & Ka star got emotional as it was the first time she and her baby took the ramp together. She wore a heavily embroidered kurti embellished in gold threadwork and olive green lehenga. She completed the look with her signature maang tika.
Emraan Hashmi and son walks at the Hamleys Show
Emran Hashmi and his son Ayaan fascinated the audience as they turned showstoppers at the Hamleys Show. 24 perky kids pranced their attitude wearing top international denim brand Diesel at the show.
On the plus side with plus size models
Breaking all the stereotypes, the LFW 2016 hosted the first ever Plus Size Fashion Show. The show, styled by designer Shilpa Chavan and aLL: The Plus Size Store saw plus-sized models strutting wearing fitted clothes showing off their bodies, rather than hiding.
