Indore: Light rains accompanied by gusty winds provided much needed relief from intense heat and humidity to local residents on Tuesday evening. Weatherman called it a pre-monsoon activity. The day remained sunny and hot till afternoon. At about 3.pm, the clouds appeared. Light rains followed, which lent relief.
However, the weather turned humid again in the evening but the winds brought comfort. The winds blowing at the speed of 24 kilometres per hour in the evening uprooted small hoardings, posters and tents erected to hold events and functions. It also caused power cuts due to fault in supply lines in many areas.
According to meteorological department officers, the change in weather is the result of trough created from Haryana to Maharashtra, which is passing trough western Madhya Pradesh. This caused rains. “Such activities can be called pre-monsoon activities and the same weather conditions will prevail for a day or more. But night temperature may be increase due to cloudy sky,” weatherman said.
On Tuesday, the city recorded maximum temperature of 39.8 degrees Celsius which was one degree above normal. The minimum temperature at 25.7 degrees Celsius was one degree above normal. Winds blew from south and south-west direction for most part of the day. Morning and evening humidity was 45 percent and 43 percent respectively. Meanwhile, those confined themselves indoors due to heat and changes in weather moved out to enjoy the pleasant evening.
