Indore: Tantrik, aide arrested for duping people


Indore: A man posing himself as a tantrik and his assistant were arrested by city crime branch police for duping people in the name of performing rituals to solve their problems. They had rented an office in a building at MG Road and circulated pamphlets in the market.

DSP (crime) Anil Singh Rathore said police had received information that a man from Delhi who started his office in Sterling Complex on MG Road duped people under pretext of solving their problem through black magic. After receiving information, a team of crime branch along with Tukoganj police station team raided the office and arrested 57-year-old Shamim Abdul Gaffur of New Delhi and his assistant Mayank Sharma of Meerut.

Accused told police that they are staying in lodge situated in Sarvate Bus Stand area. They used to change lodges to hide their identity. Shamin also said that they were staying in city for six months and paid monthly rent of Rs 6,000 for their office. They would charge Rs 200 on first visit and charge more money later.

The police have recovered a register from his office that contains contact details of visitors. The accused were handed over to Tukoganj police who booked them under Sections 420, 34 of IPC. The accused are being questioned for involvement of other persons in the crime.
