Indore: Rain adds more to weekend celebration

Indore: Rains lashed eastern part of the city on Sunday to continue the romantic weather and also, inundate several major roads and some low lying areas. However, waterlogging and several spells of rain failed to dampen the spirit of revelling citizens, as a large number of people gathered at food joints across the city and picnic spots located in the outskirts to enjoy rains on the weekend. The pleasant weather post rains added to the weekend celebration as it brought the temperature down to a much comfortable level and gave relief from scorching heat and humidity that had been hassling citizens for quite a long time.

According to meteorological department officials “The atmosphere has changed due to active monsoon, which had been shifted from the eastern part of the state. The conditions would remain the same for next couple of days, as the low pressure system is shifting over western part of the state.” Meanwhile, with today’s rainfall, the total rainfall of the season reached to 370.2 mm (14.5 inches) whereas the temperature has dropped by two degrees below normal. On Sunday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 28.4 degrees Celsius and minimum at 22.2 degrees Celsius. However, waterlogging still bugs many of the major squares of the eastern part of the city, causing traffic snarls and consequent chaos.
