Indore: Nearly two years after his decision of second review of answer books was scraped by executive council, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) vice-chancellor Dr Narendra Dhakad has re-introduced his rule for re-assessment of answer books.

“If a student is not satisfied with reassessment of his answer books, he can get his answer book re-assessed for the second time. All he has to do is pay Rs 1000 for second re-assessment,” Dhakad told reporters on Tuesday even as they university officers present there looked at him in shock as they had no clue about this new rule.

“If the student will pay Rs 1000, the university will call two subject experts and get his answer books re-assessed for the second time. If the variation in marks remains below 10 percent, he will lose money,” Dhakad said. When the officers were asked about this new rule, they said that they had no clue on it. “Only the V-C will be able to tell about the rule,” an officer said wishing anonymity.

As per norms laid down by coordination committee, the students dissatisfied with their results can be re-assessed under review system only once. For that, students need to pay Rs 250 for review of one subject answer book. After the review of answer books, second review can’t be held as there is no provision for it in the rulebook. But Dhakad made introduced this rule two years ago and allowed students to apply for second review if they were dissatisfied with first review results. For second review, the students had to pay Rs 500.

Days after this rule was implemented, the university’s executive council had observed that it was illegal and scrapped it. Now, the V-C has come up with the same rule again after a gap of two years. This time, the fee for the service is two times to what it was two years back.
