Indore: DAVV pays Rs 1.61 crore to innovate school staff to clear dues

Indore: Following the directives of Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) has paid an amount of Rs 1.61 crore to staffers of Innovate School, which was an entity of the university. The university used to run Innovate School on UTD campus.

In 2009, the university shut down the school stating that it had become a “white elephant” and appointed some of its staff in the university on contract basis and relieved a few others. The staffers which were retained were kept on a consolidated salary. About two years ago, they filed a petition in HC alleging that they were not given dearness allowance since 2000.

They also sought some other dues including sixth pay commission benefits. The court ruled in their favour and directed the university to clear their dues. When the university did not comply with the directives, they filed a contempt petition in the HC lately. The university immediately cleared their dues and informed the court about the same. Registrar Ajay Verma stated that they have complied with the court’s directives.
