Bhopal: RSS bats for woo-Dalits agenda in state

Bhopal: The RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has issued clear directives to the Sangh and its auxiliary organisations to work on Dalit agenda in the state. The RSS calls it ‘Samajik Samrasta” (social harmony). The BJP has been directed to make ‘samrasta’ the mainstay of its future political campaign in the state.

On the first day of the meeting of the RSS and its auxiliary organisations at Vidisha on Thursday, sources quoted Bhagwat as saying that some forces were bent upon dividing Hindus into castes in the country. He said that ‘samrasta’ can be used effectively to counter such forces. The RSS volunteers should take the message of ‘samrasta’ to the common people and all organisations associated with the Sangh should work in tandem for achieving this goal.

BJP and other auxiliary organisations of the Sangh presented an account of their activities over the past one year. The BJP representatives told the meeting how the party had promoted nationalistic ideology in the state. The Narmada Yatra and the Ekatma Yatra, taken out by the state government, were designed to unite the Hindu community, it was said.

Bhagwat had a closed-door meeting with the chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the morning. He also interacted with other leaders of the BJP and the RSS. The meeting also discussed the future course of action. The meeting has assumed significance in view of the assembly elections in the state later this year.

The BJP is expected to work out its poll strategy in consultation with auxiliary organisations at the meeting. BJP’s state-level office-bearers have been invited in the meeting so that they can be given guidelines related with the polls.
