Bhopal: At the national level our leader LK Advani has been pushed into the oblivion and in the state, the members of the community have been reduced to the status of second class citizens, said Sindhi Central panchayat president and former Vidhan Sabha principal secretary B D Israni.

Around 24 Sindhi panchayats under the banner of Sindhi Central Panchayat is going to take out rally on February 4 from Shahid Gate to Iqbal Maidan to press their seven point demands, informed Israni. A public meeting will also be held on the day. Around 71 years have passed but our citizenship issue is still undecided. For last 14 years BJP is in power in the state, we have served the party with heart and soul but have gained nothing, said Israni while addressing media persons here on Wednesday.

Stating that shops at Mini Market were razed down in name of beautification of the area, he said that a number of shopkeepers doing their business for over 40 years lost their livelihood so the government should now give compensation to them and also allot an alternate place to run their business.

“For last many years it is observed that all the government machinery is working against the Sindhi community, the marriage garden and other business establishments are being targeted for silly reasons, he added. Raising the issue of land lease, Israni claimed that community people who had come from Pakistan had settled in Bairagarh and other places. Then the government had given them land on lease, but now their lease agreements are not being renewed, he alleged.

He also added that they had submitted the memorandum to the BJP national president Amit Shah during his visit to Bhopal and also have given several memorandums to the chief minister, but to no avail. The panchayat has also demanded their representation in the Lok Sabha and in the Vidhan Sabha in accordance with their population strength.
