Top police, excise officers’ investment traced in search

Indore : The search action of the sleuths of the Investigation Wing of the Income Tax Department is exposing shocking links of top police and excise officers. The sleuths have traced certain documents proving investment of the top officers of the Police and Excise Department in liquor business of Shivhares and Bhatia.

The search action at 13 locations of the family members of the Ram Swarup Shivhare and Pintu Bhatia in the city continues for the second day on Friday. Official sources of the Income Tax Department said that the liquor baron made the investment on the name of their servants. During the investigation the sleuths have found certain diaries and books of accounts. The primary investigation has revealed that there is investment of around eight each top official of the Police and Excise Department in the business of the Shivhare and Bhatia. This amount is besides the bribe being paid to these officers. The officers were receiving the bribe separately and also separately making the investment in the business of liquor. The diaries have also revealed other shocking facts of political leaders in the business of Shivhare. Friday the sleuths searched four locations and found over Rs 1 crore cash from the residences. The amount recovered from 11 city-based shops is not included in this sum.

It may be recalled that as part of the nationwide action the sleuths of the Income Tax Department also strike at 13 locations of the state’s one of the biggest retail liquor baron Ramswarup Shivhare and his partner Rinku Bhatia at 11 shops, 1 residence and 1 office of an engineering college are under the search action.


Over 200 sleuths of the Investigation Wing of the Income Tax started the search action against the Shivhare’s and his aids 55 locations across the country including MP, UP and Jharkhand. Along with the countrywide strike the sleuths of the Investigation Wing simultaneously started the search action at 13 locations in the city from Thursday morning. The 13 locations include 10 liquor shops of Shivhare and another liquor businessman of the Harvinder Singh Bhatia allies Pintu Bhatia.
