Star square: Choose another route or you may get stuck in jams due to water logging

Square has improper drainage and storm water line to handle water logging

Indore : Most of the residents in city are unaware that the crossing between Radisson square and bypass is called Star square, which also connects scheme no 130, Nipania, Mahalakshmi and other areas.

It is also a busy square in terms of traffic as buses, trucks and other vehicles prefer crossing this square to go to Bhopal via the bypass. Thousands of vehicles pass through the area daily as also visitors to the city, while entering or leaving.

Anyone who passes on this road during rains has only one complaint, i.e is water logging which brings on many more troubles.

“Water logging in rains is normal, but as much as a water body is not. Water remains logged at the square for at least two days after rains but nobody cares. Vehicles, especially buses get stuck in jams and passengers suffer the most,” Manoj Jain, businessman, said. He said that he used to cross the road twice a week but he avoids it during rains.

“However, this doesn’t work for me as I have to travel through Niranjanpur which has same conditions or even worse,” Jain said.

Resident Sumit Parihar said, “Water logging takes place due to improper drainage system at the square. Only one drainage hole is present which is too small to handle the water flow.”

Water logging not only proves dear to commuters but to public property as well. Rotary of the square is broken and inviting accidents on the spot.

“What to complaint about water logging at this square. There are no residential or commercial institutions here but officials must take care of the problems faced by commuters. Buses, taxis, trucks and private vehicles prefer this road to reach the bypass on the way to Bhopal,” Parihar added.

Local residents also cautioned to block the road as a protest to wake responsible officials from deep slumber.
