Indore: Nearly one- and- a- halfmonth after a Sikh student was beaten up and his turban removed at Prestige Institute of Management and Research ( PIMR), another student belonging to the same community faced identical ordeal at International Institute of Professional Studies ( IIPS) of Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidyalaya ( DAVV) on Thursday. Some senior students Rohit Bansode, Gourav Jain and Dharmendra allegedly bashed up Paramjeet Singh over some dispute erupted during the institutes annual function ‘Tourista’. During the bashing incident, the victims turban was also allegedly removed which led to the Sikh community members venting ire. Some members of the community along with the parents of the victim went to Bhawarkuwa police station and demanded action against the accused who beat up Paramjeet and removed his turban.
They alleged that the accused hurt the sentiments of the community and they should be booked under appropriate sections.
The police, however, took a complaint from the victim in the incident and they are probing the matter.
Accused were drunk Paramjeet alleged that all the three accused were drunk at the time of the incident.
‘They beat me up under the influence of alcohol,’the victim said. He told the police said that a case for ragging against the accused should be registered as they were his seniors.
Rohit and Gourav are said to be MBA fourth year students and Dharmendra MCA fourth year student.
Paramjeet is in the third year of his five- year integrated MBA course.
Thrashing despite compromise Sources said that a feud erupted between the victim and the accused during a function of IIPS on Wednesday. After a minute scuffle, both the parties had compromised but Rohit, Gourav and Dharmendra still thrashed Paramjeet on Thursday.
The exact reason behind the feud was not known but it had to do with the ongoing tussle between day scholars and hostellers.
Paramjeet is a day scholar while the accused are hostellers.
Rohit already under lens According to sources, Rohit is already under lens in the thrashing of an MBA student Viklap Nagle.
Viklap was beaten up at night by four hostellers on September 20. Rohits statements were also taken by the Proctorial Board on Wednesday in the case. Besides, sources said IIPS had taken disciplinary action against Rohit over some matter.
