Indore : The city crime branch police on Saturday arrested three persons of a gang who robbed mobiles phones and cash worth lakhs of rupees. The accused have confessed to committing robbery.
On the directive of DIG Harinarayanachari Mishra, a team of crime branch police was constituted to trace people involved in robbery. ASP (crime) Amarendra Singh said investigation team came to know of people involved in serial robbery committed in Bhanwarkuan and Tejaji Nagar.
After follow up, crime branch and Bhanwarkuan police arrested Shakib Ali, a resident of Friends Colony, and Vasim Gouri, a resident of Shalimar Palace in Chandan Nagar. During questioning, accused told police that they robbed mobile phone and cash from truck driver after stabbing him in Transport Nagar on August 5. The accused had robbed mobile phone and cash from another person in Transport Nagar on same day.
The accused also confessed to have robbed Rs 5,000 and mobile phone from a dumper truck driver near IT Park on Ring Road on August 6. One of their accomplices Irshad Khan of Sirpur was also involved in the crime. Days later, accused stabbed a truck cleaner near Kelod Kartal on Bypass Road while making attempts to rob them. The accused committed crime to fulfil their need of drugs. Later, crime branch officials also arrested Irshad.
Vasim told police that he along with Jafar Pathan of Noorani Nagar committed theft in a house in Vakratund Nagar in Khajrana few days ago. They stole LED TV, camera and other valuables from there. Police started search of Jafar when they came to know that he is in jail in connection with a murder case. Police have recovered mobile phones from the accused.
Vasim told police that he along with Jafar and Shakib committed robbery and theft in Betma, Tejaji Nagar, Bhanwarkuna, Banganga, Aerodrome, Super Corridor area, Sagorkuti and Pithampur.
