One killed, five hurt as car falls into well


Indore : A 25-year-old youth was killed and five of his friends were injured when the car in which they were travelling fell into a 25 feet deep roadside well near Jamniya village on Nemawar Road here on Saturday evening.

They were returning from Crescent Water Park when the accident happened. Sub-inspector RB Patel of Khudel police station said that the deceased, identified as Pappu Raghuvanshi, was a resident of Hoshangabad. He came to the city with his friends– Abhishek, Vikas and Amit to meet their friends– Ankit Shrivastav and Rajat in Bhawarkuan area.

Ankit and Rajat hailing from Chhindwara are pursuing BSc from a city college. All six friends had gone to Crescent Park for picnic in a Tata Indigo car.

Police said while returning car driver lost control over the vehicle at Jamniya village as he could not see due to high beam lights from a vehicle coming from opposite side and he lost control and the car fell into the well.

After receiving information, villagers of Jamniya reached the spot and took them out but Pappu could not be saved. Later, they informed the police and 108 Ambulance. Five youths were rushed to a hospital while Pappu’s body was sent for autopsy. The car belongs to Ankit which could not be taken out from the well yet, the police said.
