Shajapur : Police have booked one person for sharing objectionable content on WhatsApp and also arrested nine persons for disrupting communal harmony in the region.
Few days ago, an objectionable content against a particular community was posted on WhatsApp, spreading communal tension in the area. Police swung into action immediately and district police superintendent Anil Verma directed ASP Mahendra Taranekar to take action against the perpetrators.
9 held, perpetrator booked, situation under control
As a police team led by ASP Taranekar reached the tension gripped town, miscreants who were pelting stones on the houses of another community people attacked the police vehicles. They also attacked a press photographer Suresh and injured him seriously. The injured media person was rushed to district hospital.
On the complaint of Suresh, Ummed and some other local residents, police have registered cases against Shahbaz, Firoz, Rashid Khan, Riyaz Khan, Naushad, Bittu, Farmhan, Shafique, Shakir under various sections of IPC and arrested them. Police have also registered a case against Ritesh Rathore for the objectionable post under IT section 295-A.
