Indore: Global Investor Summit (GIS-2016), to be held on October 22 and 23, is going to witness august presence of global statesmen.
Minister of External Affairs (MEA) of the UAE Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Sultan Al Nahyan will be present at the inauguration ceremony of the mega event. Diplomats of 12 countries will also present on the day. For the first time, a senior minister of a country is attending the GIS.
A high-ranking official told this correspondent that as per the protocol, scheduled trips of foreign statesmen and diplomats are being fixed by the Union Ministry of External Affairs. The state government has received the name of diplomats of the countries and their schedules. A final approval from the MEA is likely to reach either on Sunday or Monday.
The local administration has also geared up for the event and started arrangement. Japan, UAE, South Korea, Singapore and the UK are partners of this year’s Summit.
Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Dubey said that 14 IAS officers, who are on probation, were being attached with foreign guests including Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UEA Sheikh Abhullah, foreign diplomats and delegates as their local liaison officers. These officers will reach here on October 17.
Interpreters and translators
Since a large number of foreign delegates are attending the event, special arrangements are made for interpreters and translators. They will translate the proceedings of the Summit. Special audio devices would also be given to foreign guests through whom they can get English translation of the proceedings.
Mallaiya reviews preparations
Earlier, Finance Minister Jayant Mallaiya reached the city and reviewed preparations with local officers.
He first visited Amber Convention Centre, where the CEO Conclave would be held on October 21 evening. Later he reached the GIS venue, Brilliant Convention Centre and inspected the grand hall, exhibition spot and the spot where MP Stall would be set-up.
The minister also saw the presentation of arrangements and directed to undergo a rehearsal of all preparations well before the mega event. On this occasion, Mayor Malini Gaud, IDA Chairman Shankar Lalwani, Commissioner Sanjay Dubey, Collector P Narahari, DIG Santosh Kumar Singh, Additional Collector Dilip Kumar, AKVN MD Kumar Purushottam and IMC Commissioner Manish Singh were also present.
Only Vegetarian food to be served
While reviewing the preparations, the officials informed Mallaiya that only vegetarian dishes would be served to all the guests and no liquor would be served at the dinner. Food contract is being given to one local and one outside caterer who are known for serving delicious foods.
Commissioner inspects venue
Earlier, Dubey started inspection from city airport to Summit venue along with Collector Narahari, SP Headquarters Akhilesh Jha, Additional Collector Dilip Kumar, AKVN MD Kumar Purushottam and IMC Commissioner Manish Singh and IDA CEO Rakesh Singh. He saw condition of roads, plantation and sanitation and beautification work.
He also instructed to remove illegally placed hoardings from the main route.
