Indore : A solo art exhibition was inaugurated by cricketer Sanjay Jagdale at Pritamlal Dua art gallery on Saturday. On display is artwork of 52-year-old artist Manaswini Mahapatra. This is her first art exhibition in Indore.

Her work varies from temples, landscapes to shadow work. Talking to Free Press, Manaswini said, “I never learned art as a professional. Nor am I an expert of any art form. But I feel happy when I paint.”  Her father was a professional artist holding expertise in thread work, black and white artwork. “But I loved colours and had no inclination towards thread,” Manaswini said.

Temples and mythological characters are her favourite subjects of painting. “I like Puri because I grew up in Bhubaneswar and often visited Jagannath temple,” Manaswini said. “I held first exhibition in Mumbai with help of my husband who works at IIM Indore now,” Manaswini said. She feels that art is good is a hobby because it makes people to observe life closely.
