Indore: Three arrested for eve teasing, harassing girls

Indore: Three incidents of eve teasing and harassment of girls were reported in the city.

In the first incident, on the complaint of a 28-year-old woman, a case has been registered against one Sarvesh Dayal Sharma. The woman is employed in a mall in Viajay Nagar area.

Sarvesh had posted the girl’s photo, office address and contact number on dating site ‘Fast Meeting Dating’. Following the posting, the woman received innumerable phone calls and requests for friendship on her social sites accounts.


Things got out of hand when people reached her office and called her out. Finally the woman decided to seek police intervention.

The matter was handed over to Mahila Police and after painstaking investigation nabbed the accused. Sarvesh has been booked for attempted molestation and other acts under the IPC and also under IT Act.

In the second case, an out of city resident harassed a woman by sending her obscene messages and material on her WhatsApp account forcing the victim to file a complaint with AJK police station.

According to the police, the complaint was filed by a 27-year-old woman belonging to Scheduled Tribe category and resident of Rajendra Nagar, Kesarbagh Road and a case was registered against Pankaj Laddha resident of Balwadi (Badwani) under various sections of the IPC and ST/SC Act.

Pankaj had obtained woman’s number somehow and started sending her obscene messages and material on her WhatsApp account. The girl had initially tried to reason with him over phone but when he refused to heed to her advice, she decided to file a complaint.

In the third case, a youth stopped a girl in middle of the road and tried to strike a conversation and when she did not respond and objected to his behaviour he beat her up.

According to Shivpal Singh Kushwaha, TI, Bhanwarkua police station, the complainant is 25-year-old girl residing in a hostel at Vishnupuri and studying in the city. The accused Ankit Shrivastava, a resident of Nagda, also resided in the area and was studying in the city.

Ankit had been following the girl since a long time and when she did not respond to his advances, he stopped her in the middle of road and took the key of her scooter. The girl objected and Ankit beat her up.

Ankit is arrested on Wednesday night and booked under various Sections of the IPC.
