Indore: Here is good news for teachers of institutions of higher learning. Finally, the seventh UGC pay review committee has submitted its report to high level panel of ministry of human resource development (MHRD) with recommendation of 20 per cent pay hike for teachers with respect from January 1, 2016.
The report also proposed to link promotions to performance and suggested making uniform retirement age 65 years for all the teachers whether they are from central universities, state universities and government and private colleges. Welcoming the recommendations, All India Federation of University and College Teachers Organisation (AIFUCTO) pushed for implementing the report in letter and spirit. In an email sent to principals of different institutions, AIFUCTO general secretary Anil Kumar said that the organisation has requested the MHRD to make public the recommendations made by the pay review committee soon.
“AIFUCTO will comment on the report when it is made public,” Kumar said. He also stated that they have sought appointment from MHRD to discuss the pay review committee report. Shri Cloth Market Girls’ College principal Mangal Mishra said that the report was awaited for long. “Now, when the committee has submitted the report, the MHRD should implement its recommendations without any amendments at the earliest,” he added.
