Indore: Bugged by exorbitant power bill or the one that charged you more than you have consumed? Bored of standing in long queues for redressal? Here comes the relief from all these woes. Unlike past, now you don’t have to visit power distribution company office and wait for several hours to get the bill corrected.
Rather, dial 1912 and lodge a complaint with Discom over phone. After your call is over, you will get an auto generated complaint number and soon employees of Discom will reach your door-step to verify your complaint. They will check your bill, electricity meter, its reading and if there is any clerical or technical mistake by the meter reader, the visiting team will inform the higher-ups.
You will be provided with amended bill within five days from the compliant. If your complaint was found untrue, you will get an SMS on your mobile phone about the same. Discom has launched toll free number 1912 to address complaints of consumers regarding wrong bills.
Discom managing director Aakash Tripathi said that the facility has been launched to help consumers to lodge their complaints from home.
“We observed that people had to take break from their works and stand in serpentine queues for hours at Discom office to get their bill compliant address. I have seen getting them frustrated while standing in line. We thought of bailing out them of this problem and came up with this toll free number scheme,” said Tripathi.
The company has provided the facility to 6 lakh consumers in Indore district. The company said that they have taken up complaints of 12000 consumers.
A special team has been deployed at Discom’s office at Pologround to monitor the complaints. Record of complaints would be maintained. If complaints were recived from same consumers repeated and the same were found true, action against the official concerned would be taken, Tripathi said.
