Indore: Police solve murder mystery of married woman

Indore: Police claimed to have solved the murder mystery of a girl, whose decomposed body was found in a dilapidated building at Pakiza Colony recently, with the arrest of deceased’s step-father. The decomposed body of the girl was found on Thursday night.

Khajrana police was informed that foul smell is emitting from an old building in Pakiza Colony. Police reached at the spot and a decomposed body was found in a room of an old building. Since the body was about five days old and it was a challenge for police to identify the deceased.

A joint team of senior police and FSL officials conducted thorough investigation of the body. Later, police prepared a sketch and informed all police stations, members of Nagar Surkasha Samities and residents of Khajrana area about the deceased. On the basis of deceased’s sketch, a woman of the locality identified the deceased as Afroz, alias Appu (18), wife of Salman Abbasi, a resident of Habib Colony, Khajrana.


The post-mortem report of deceased stated that she was strangulated and hit on head. Considering the seriousness of the crime, DIG Harinarayanachari Mishra instructed ASP Rakesh Kumar Singh and CSP Gopal Singh Dhakad to solve the murder mystery. Police also declared a reward of Rs 20,000 for information about the murder.

During the investigations, police came to know that the deceased was residing with her husband in Habib Colony of Khajrana area. Later, her husband was sent to jail in connection with a case. After that she was living with one Chhotu. During interrogations of the family members, grandmother and maternal aunty of the deceased informed police that some days ago Afaroz’s step-father Rafique, son of Nathe Khan, a resident of Sirpur Kankad, had a dispute with her.

On the basis of this, police brought Rafique and strictly interrogated him. During interrogations, he informed police that deceased was of a bad character and had illicit relationship with many. Afroz’s mother-in-law had even seen her in an objectionable position with a man. Rafique told police during interrogation that after coming to know about the bad character of Afroz, he was angry and decided to kill her. He reached at Afroz’s residence and found that she was in an inebriated condition. He strangulated her and dumped the body in a dilapidated building at Pakiza Colony.
