Indore: Aimed at using digital platform for wider and easier access to documents, Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has started issuing final exam mark sheets online instead of sending printed copies to the participants. In a recent circular, the CISCE said that from this academic year it intends to make digitally signed copies of mark sheets and pass certificate of ICSE and ISC examinations available for candidates through DigiLocker facility. In addition, ISC candidates will also be provided with digitally signed copies of migration certificate shared on the same platform.

DigiLocker is an electronic platform setup by department of electronics and information technology (DeitY), Government of India for issuance and verification of documents and certificates online, thus eliminating the use of physical documents. An Indian citizen, who sign up for a DigiLocker account get a dedicated cloud storage space that is linked with their Aadhaar (UIDAI) number. Organisations registered with DigiLocker can push electronic copies of documents and certificates like driving license, Voter ID and school certificates, directly into citizens’ lockers for their easy access.

Similarly, citizens can also upload scanned copies of their legacy documents in their personal DigiLocker accounts to share them with other parties without any hassle. These legacy documents can be even electronically signed using the eSign facility. Signing up for DigiLocker is easy– all a student needs is a mobile number, which will be authenticated by sending an OTP (one-time password) followed by selecting a username and password. This will create the DigiLocker account. After the DigiLocker account is successfully created, one can download the electronic documents issued by the council.

Explaining the benefits, student Gaurav Roy said “I am happy that we do not have to worry about receiving print copy of mark sheets on time anymore.” Another visibly relieved student Sukrati Sharma said “Re-issue of mark sheets and keeping them safely is indeed a tedious task. It’s great that we do not have to worry about it anymore. After all, we are the generation which prefers to even order veggies online. So, it is really great to get my documents online, including final mark sheets.”
