Indore: Noted scientist suggests more industry-academia collaboration

Indore: The second day of 4th International Conference on Nano Structuring started with a talk by Ion beam society of India president Prof DK Avasthi at School of Instrumentation. He spoke about utilisation of Ion beam for the benefit of society like treatment of cancer cell, fabrication of nano membrane and fuel cell. He also discussed the importance of industry-academia collaboration for transfer of technology from laboratory to society.

After that Dr Amirtha Pandian of Indira Gandhi Center for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam presented role of Ion beam to enhance the performance of thoria based fuel for next generation atomic power plant. Dr Mukesh Ranjan and Prof Tapobrata Som spoke about procedure for fabrication nanostructure using ion beam.

These nanostructures can be used for transportation of signal at speed of light, detection of cancer cell, and enhancement of efficiency of solar cell. Dr Pratap Sahoo discussed about phonon tunnel nano device which can be used for transportation of heat and heat exchanger. Dr Yagati from South Korea presented a nano-device that can be used for the detection of human gastric cancer cell. Dr Archna Sagdeo described about the national facility for the scientist and industry.
