Indore: Though the banks were opened two days after holidays, there were shorter queues witnessed outside most bank branches on Monday. It is said that in the absence of enough cash, the banks thought it better to distribute minimum tokens to the customers.
Generally, on Mondays banks witness large number of customers and it was expected that there would be heavy rush today. But the scene was no different from other days.
Sources said that banks are not getting enough cash from the RBI. Sources further said that even the central bank also doesn’t have sufficient cash to meet the demands of banks.
People faced difficulty on Monday as ATMs were running cashless. The banks are also feeding cash in only those ATMs which are located on main roads. Certain banks placed Point of Sale (PoS) at some business establishments in the city but they too are not working.
