Indore: While Indore Municipal Corporation was busy celebrating its achievement after centre declared Indore as India’s cleanest city, the MGM Medical College authorities seized two dumper trucks on Wednesday night. The dumper trucks hired by Indore Municipal Corporation had dumped garbage in the campus on Wednesday night.
This had been going on for couple of nights that shocked college authorities as the garbage can spread infection among patients admitted to MY hospital. College insiders said dumped garbage generated foul smell and bred insects.
The trucks were caught by guard Jagannath Yadav who informed the building section in-charge Gopal Rane after which the trucks were seized. “Two trucks were caught dumping garbage in the college campus near KEM building. This has been going on for last couple of days. We were surprised, as garbage piled up in the campus after which we directed the guards to act,” MGM Medical College dean Dr Sharad Thora said.
He said that seized trucks belong to Indore Municipal Corporation and was operated by a private contractor for dumping waste at trenching ground. “We did not seize the trucks but didn’t allow them to take trucks back before they collected dumped garbage and cleaned our premises,” Dr Thora said
“I had caught these trucks earlier but the drivers fled. They dumped the garbage to avoid going to trenching ground,” guard Yadav said. Municipal contractor couldn’t be contacted for comments over the issue.
