Indore: Though throwing waste in open is banned in the city, wife of a lecturer at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) appears to have made house of an assistant professor a garbage dumping zone. A faculty member with School of Education, assistant professor Avtarjit Singh, lodged a complaint with registrar Ajay Verma saying that wife of Santosh Choubey, a lecturer at Institute of Management Studies, throws garbage in his flat.
Singh was allocated flat in D-block in DAVV’s residential apartment in January. Choubey’s wife lives on upper floor. In his complaint, Singh said Choubey’s wife lives in official residence whereas her husband lives at other place. “Choubey’s wife dumps garbage in my house. She also releases filthy water of her house in my residence. I caught her doing so five to six times,” Singh said in the complaint. “I talked to Choubey’s wife but she, instead of stopping the practice, threatened that she would lodge a police complaint against me for harassing her,” he said.
Choubey’s wife intentionally throws garbage
Neighbours claimed that Choubey’s wife intentionally dumps garbage in Singh’s house. “Choubey’s wife and Singh family quarrel very often. Perhaps to settle scores, she dumps garbage in Singh’s house,” said a faculty member residing in the same apartment. He also stated that garbage collection van comes to DAVV residential campus daily to pick up waste from houses.
Choubey to be issued notice: Registrar
Registrar Ajay Verma said that a notice would be served on Choubey seeking his clarification on the allegations levelled by Singh in his complaint. “If the reply will not be found satisfactory, an inquiry committee will be constituted into matter and action will be taken,” he added.
I’m not living min official residence: Choubey
When contacted, Choubey said he does not live in official residence allocated to him. “It is no more in my possession,” he said. Sources said that Choubey and his wife are living separately for past two years. While Choubey’s wife lives in official residence, he lives in a hostel. In February, Choubey had written to university saying that official residence allocated to him is not in his possession. He had also sought house rent allowance from the university as he does not stay in university quarter.
