Indore: District Collector P Narahari appeared before Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court and informed the court that he had passed an order for maintaining status quo over a temple constructed in a garden at Sudama Nagar. A PIL was filed on the matter pertaining to construction of a temple on green belt. Subsequent, applications were attached with the petition alleging that lands of gardens and green belts were encroached upon and illegal structures have been setup even as the district administration posing a nelson’s eye to the issue. In February, the court had directed the district administration to identify encroachments in gardens and other areas falling under green belt and subsequently remove the constructions.
During hearing on the petition on Thursday, petitioner’s advocate Lokendra Joshi alleged that the district administration was not acting on the court’s directives. Following the allegations, division bench of Justice PK Jaiswal and Virendra Singh directed collector to be show up before the court and clear the air over the issue. “The collector appeared before the court and submitted a report wherein it was stated that status quo is being maintained at a temple located at Sudama Nagar garden,” Joshi said adding that the administration has still to clear what action has been taken on encroachments at other gardens and area under green belts.
