Indore: Two days after additional director (higher education) office had claimed that nearly 17,000 results were withheld with Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya for past three years, the university rubbished the claim, stating the information was incorrect. “Merely 540 results were withheld with us for past three years. The withheld results were announced lately. Today, no result is withheld with the university,” claimed vice chancellor Dr Narendra Dhakad, adding the AD office may have some confusion in the matter.
“The officials from AD office can visit the university and themselves verify our claims in case of any doubt,” he said. In charge additional director SB Singh said that the exact number of withheld results was figured out during his recent visit to the DAVV. “I have not created the figure of 17, 000 withheld results on my own,” he said adding that information of withheld results have been provided to the principal secretary (higher education) Ashish Upadhyaya for further course of action.
The DAVV had drew attention of the state government on the issue of withheld results, when an aggrieved student lodged a complaint with CMHelpline and subsequently, department of higher education seeking to know the exact figure of withheld results and reason behind the same from DAVV. Last week, the university had informed DHE that the number of students, whose results were withheld for 2014, 2015 and 2016 batches, was about 750. But, an anonymous person informed the DHE that it was being misled by the university and that the exact figure of withheld results was about 14, 000.
Following the tip off, Upadhaya directed Singh to personally visit the university to figure out the exact number of withheld results, who had found it to be a staggering 17, 000.
