Indore: Cell nabs youth for harassing woman


Indore: ‘We Care for You’ cell arrested a youth for harassing a woman by making obscene call on her mobile on Thursday. The victim, a resident of Malharganj area, lodged a complaint with ASP (crime) Amarendra Singh that an unidentified person was making obscene calls. She also tried to pacify him but he was still making obscene calls in odd time.

After receiving the complaint, the ASP directed cell officials to trace the accused and arrest him. The Cell officials started investigation and managed to trace accused’s mobile number. He was later arrested from Juna Risala area. The accused was identified Amir Husain, 20, of Juna Risala. His father runs a stitching shop and the victim also runs her stitching shop so he somehow obtained her mobile number and started making her calls. The accused was handed over to Malharganj police for further action.

 Youth arrested for stealing ornaments

Aerodrome police nabbed a youth in connection with a theft incident at a marriage function on Thursday. Police said that some persons from Betul came to the city to attend a marriage function and they stayed at Satya Saroj Vatika when their bag containing gold jewelry was stolen. The police started an investigation and nabbed one Kanha alias Rahul Singh Tanwar, a resident of Chhota Bangarda, on the basis of CCTV footage and recovered stolen goods from him.

Four booked for Rs 10L dowry demand

A woman lodged a complaint against her husband and in-laws alleging that they were harassing her for Rs 10 lakh dowry. The police said that Manikbagh resident Avnit Bagga stated in her complaint that she got married to Rintu Singh of Ujjain a few years ago. Rintu, his father Harminder Singh, mother Mandeep Kaur and a relative Jasneet Kaur were harassing her for bringing dowry of Rs 10 Lakh and they even tortured her physically and threatened her of dire consequences.

In another incident, one Ritu Bhati of Indira Nagar filed a case against her husband Pratik and three others for demanding Rs 5 lakh as dowry.

Woman nabbed for stealing mobile phone

Police on Thursday arrested a woman for stealing a mobile phone from the counter of a mobile shop in Khajrana area. One Dheeraj Sawlani of Ramkrishnabag had lodged a complaint that he runs a mobile phone shop at his residence. On May 15 last, a new mobile phone was stolen by someone from the shop. The police started investigation into the case and examined CCTV footage when they found that mobile phone was being taken by a woman. Police launched a search for her and nabbed one Pinky alias Archana from Ramkrishnabag Colony. She first tried to mislead the police and later confessed her crime.
