Indore: Three persons including a minor were arrested while planning a theft at a house in Chandan Nagar area on Tuesday. Stolen goods worth Rs 5 lakh and instruments used in the crime were also recovered from the accused. According to ASP (crime) Amarendra Singh, following a tip off about a group of youths planning theft at a house near wine shop in Chandan Nagar, a team raided the place and nabbed the youths including a 14-year-old boy.
The accused were identified as Sanja Chouhan of Pithampur and Ajay Prasad of Ashiyana Royal Residency, Mhow. A bag containing tools used to commit the theft was also recovered from their possession. Accused Sanjay revealed to police that after his father kicked him out from their house in Banganaga area due to his involvement in criminal activities, he started living in Chandan Nagar area with his wife and two children. Due to police crackdown on criminals in the city, he later, moved Pithampur and formed a gang of thieves, which used to commit thefts in various places of the city.
He was earlier booked by Chandan Nagar police for involvement in criminal activities, police said, adding that so far, he confessed to commit six thefts in Chandan Nagar and one in Tejaji Nagar area. Another accused Ajay Prasad is a son of retired Indian army officer and hails from Meerut. After his father’s retirement, they shifted to Mhow and later, Ajay set up a mobile repairing shop near Eicher Square in Pithampur, where he met Sanjay for the first time, police said, adding that Sanjay had even given a stolen mobile and laptop to Ajay for sell.
According to police, the minor accused was staying with his uncle in Vaishnav Colony, who is a fruit vendor in Pithampur. Sanjay had also given him some stolen goods to sell it in the market. Crime branch sleuths have recovered gold jewellery weighing around 150 grams, silver jewellery weighing around 2 kilogram, a LED television and a mobile phone from the accused.
