Indore: 16,000 form human chain against Chinese goods



Indore: With the feeling of nation first, over 16000 citizens formed 21-km long human chain on Monday morning to boycott Chinese goods. Over 10 organisations also joined the protest.

Following a hectic campaign on social media urging people to shun use of Chinese products, the campaign virtually hit the ground when the citizens of Indore supported the drive forming a massive human chain on Monday morning.

People’s anger reached climax when the China apparently supported the Pak sponsored terrorism and also took step to stop flow of water of one of the tributaries of Brahmaputra.

Dr Mukesh Modh of Hindu Utsava Samiti said that Chinese products had ruined Indian small and medium industries and left thousands jobless. “Our aim is to make people aware about tactics of China and how it is damaging our economy.”

Prominent citizens, traders, public representatives, social organisations, industrialists, advocates, doctors, teachers, artists, men of letters, students extended their support to boycott Chinese goods.

The human chain was formed from Palsikar Colony and it passed through New GDC, Pratap Statue, Balda Coloney, Tilokchand Jain HS school, Kaila Mata Mandir, Gangwal Bus Stand, Bhagatsingh Statue, Antim Chouraha, Goura Kund, Khajuri Bazar, Rajwada, MG Road, opposite to High Court, Lantern Square, Malwa Mill, Patnipura, Atal gate, LIG, Vijay Nagar and Satya Sai Chouraha and culminated at Bombay Hospital.

At 27 locations, stages were also set, where speakers urged people to boycott use of China items.

OP Dhoot, president Association of Industries of MP, said: “We have extended our support to the move as due to cheap price, China products have ruined MSME units of the region.”

Suresh Ferwani, president MP wholesale Crackers Traders Association, said that Chinese crackers are sub-standards but they are smuggling into our country.
