Hubby, three others booked for dowry harassment

Indore : Women police booked a man and three of his family members for demanding Rs 8 lakh dowry from his wife on Saturday. The accused hail from Pakistan and are staying in city for more than 15 years.

According to police, Bairathi Colony resident Palak Wadhwani stated in her complaint that she got married to Vijay Wadhwani, a resident of Triveni Colony in February 2008. After a few days of her marriage, her husband and mother-in-law started harassing her over petty issues.

The victim stated that after she gave birth to a girl child, the accused started demanding money. The harassment became intense after she gave birth to the second girl child and her husband and mother-in-started demanding Rs 8 lakh and gold jewellery.


Palak’s brother Pankaj Rana said that they tried to resolve the issue Vijay but in vain. He said that Vijay and his family members are from Pakistan and are staying in the city for

more than 15 year. Vijay runs business of sugar in Siyaganj and he has

also applied for Indian citizenship.

Vijay, his mother Savitri, brother-in-law Lalchand Wadhwani and nephew Manish were harassing her for dowry and they even thrashed her when she refused to bring money from her parents. Presently Palak is staying with her parents.

Police have booked them under Section 498-A, 294, 323, 34 of the IPC and

started investigation into the case.
