Happy go lucky Indoreans

Indore : The proposed happiness department of Madhya Pradesh government would not have to do much in Indore. Majority of people here are very happy about the way things are in the city. They love the chaos, mismanagement and lawlessness on roads because they are responsible for it.

The happy lot in Indore comprises two-wheeler riders, motorists, private transport vehicle operators, auto and taxiwallahs and the remaining vehicular traffic. The government, city traffic police and city administration do not make them unhappy by making them follow rules and regulations.

They happily ride and drive whichever way they want. Even the wrong side is right for them. They zoom across pedestrian paths and cycle tracks and look very happy while doing the wrong thing. Many do not have to wait for traffic signals to turn green before they take off. Those operating Magic vans do not have to think about any rules and regulations while plying on the city roads.

Even the educated and intelligent among the Indoris are happy about not having to follow irritating rules and regulations. They can’t hide their glee while they are speeding in the wrong direction making cyclists and pedestrians to run for cover. So much fun for them!

The poor pedestrians and cyclists, third class citizens of Indore, are perhaps the only ones who need help from government’s happiness department.

Barring a few exceptions, the traffic policemen that you see at some places are happy that they don’t have to do much because nobody listens to them anyway. Occasionally a few motorists and other vehicular trafficwallahs are pulled up, but not regularly because the government and administration do not want people to be unhappy.

Hundreds of commercial establishment owners are happy that they do not have to earmark space for parking of vehicles. The roads, pedestrian paths in the city and cycling track on A-B Road are there for parking. Even before the happiness department was thought of, the administration made these commercial establishments happy by providing them free parking space even as the establishments utilized the space that should have been earmarked for parking to have more shops and outlets thereby earning more.  The situation is the same all over the city, without any exceptions.

Take a walk (but be careful that you do not get run over) along any mall and other commercial establishment on A-B Road and you will find vehicles parked where they are not supposed to.  This makes the businessmen happy, particularly eateries and restaurants.

In short it’s free for all for majority of Indoreans, who may not need any help from happiness department.
