City shivers on Coldest Day of the season


Indore: Indore witnessed the coldest day and night of the season, on Saturday. The temperature plummeted to almost 40% from the temperature recorded on Friday. The city had recorded 17.9 degree Celsius on Friday and on Saturday it was plummeted to 6.7 degree Celsius.“ It is the coldest day of the season and the temperature shed 9 degrees in comparison to Friday,” the Met officials said.

They said that such condition would prevail for sometime due to disturbance in northern region of the country. While talking about the temperature recorded last year on the same date, the officials said that it was quite warm last year as the maximum temperature was 24.8 degrees Celsius.

Coupled with chilly winds, dense fog disrupted normal life in the city as people witnessed sunrays after 10 am.Moreover, the visibility of Saturday morning was also at its lowest.

Many schools open even after the Collector’s order: Neglecting the order of Collector for closing the schools from January 8 to January 11 up to class 8th, many private schools were opened on Saturday and regular classes were also conducted. Now, it is up to the district administration to take action against errant schools.
