New Delhi : Actor, Singer and TV presenter-turned North-East Delhi BJP MP Manoj Tiwari (45) was on Wednesday appointed new president of the party’s Delhi unit, replacing Satish Upadhyay (54), a municipal corporator who was at the helm of affairs since July 2014 and not replaced even after the party lost badly to AAP in February 2015 elections.

A BJP announcement said party President Amit Shah has also appointed another MP Nityanand Rai (50) as the Bihar unit president, succeeding Mangal Pandey, an MLA.

Tiwari is the BJP’s prominent ‘purabiya’ face, who has a huge following among the migrant Bhojpuri-speaking voters in the capital from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
