Govt takes steps to develop Bahu Fort in Jammu

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Housing, Culture and Horticulture Raman Bhalla today said the government had taken up several initiatives to develop Bahu Fort area here, which is fast emerging as a favoured destination of tourists and pilgrims.

After inspecting the ongoing development works at Bahu Fort, Bhalla said the state government was making all-out efforts to provide modern facilities to the visiting pilgrims and tourists.

The minister asked the state’s Tourism and Culture Department officials to display history of Rani Mahal and other Dogra rulers at prominent places of the Maha Kali Temple on the fort premises.


He also said a gallery would be installed with pictures of army jawans who had sacrificed their lives for the nation.

The minister said the government had earmarked Rs 80 lakh for illuminating the area around the fort, in front of the Tawi river.

Bhalla said every year crores of pilgrims from across the country visit the Maha Kali Temple to pay obeisance. He said the state government was committed to provide all basic facilities to the pilgrims at the shrine.
