Rajahmundry (AP): East Godavari district collector and election officer Neetu Prasad said here today that yesterday’s general elections to three Lok Sabha and 19 assembly seats were held peacefully.
“Polling was by and large peaceful and no untoward incident was reported from any part of the district. A 79 per cent voter turnout was recorded,” she said in an official statement.
She held a meeting today with election observers, political party leaders, agents, micro observers as well as returning officials to discuss measures to be taken on May 16, which is counting day.
She also visited strong rooms where electronic voting machines (EVMs) and other materials are kept, besides visiting counting rooms as well as enquiring steps taken by officials.
