Jalpaiguri (WB): A court in Jalpaiguri district today sentenced a monk for 14 days’ jail remand in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 11-year-old boy in the district. The Special Court further ordered two minor boys, who were also accused in the case, be sent to a remand home Korak. The three were charged under ‘Prevention of Child Sexual Offence’ Act for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy who was living in the Math at Jalpaiguri for the past two years.

The matter came to light on Monday after the boy managed to escape, informed his mother about the ordeal, who then contacted an NGO Childline and police were intimated. The monk was arrested on Monday on the basis of a complaint filed by Childline.
