Bihar Crime: 8 men molest a minor girl on the streets, onlookers record and share footage

After video of a girl being molested in broad daylight by 8 youth in Jehanabad, Bihar, went viral on Saturday, police detained two of the 8 youth. As reported by the ANI, after the video went viral an FIR was filed against the men involved in the heinous act. The men were identified and out of eight two have been detained. Two Special Investigation Teams (SIT) were also constituted to investigate the incident, as reported by ANI.

The video shows a group of young men molesting a minor. The victim is trying to escape, screaming and begging the molesters to leave her. The video has been removed from the social media but according to the reports it is still being spread on messaging platforms.

“Faces of two people have been matched with people in the video and other two were making the clip. Other four to five people have been named by them,” said Nayyar Hasnain Khan, Patna Zonal IG, as reported by the Indian Express. Khan added that a search operation is underway to nab the other accused.


The video shows a motorcycle in the footage, which helped the police to find the criminals behind the act. The footage of the motorcycle was found at Sihati village which is situated in Bhelavar area of the district, as reported by the News 18. The police are also being helped by the crime branch, as reported by the India news website.

“We have lodged a case at Town police station. We have identified a bike that belongs to one Ravi Ranjan Kumar. Though the location, open fields, looks that of somewhere near the Jehanabad town, we are trying to verify the video and also find out the exact location,” Jehanabad SP Manish Kumar said, as reported by the Indian Express.

As reported by the India news website, a case has been lodged under Section 376 (rape), Section 511 (punishment for offences punishable with life or other imprisonments) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 8 (sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), 2012, said the area’s Station House Officer (SHO) SK Singh.
