UP Election 2017: PM Modi’s road show at Varanasi begins, huge crowd turns up

With shifting focus to the final phase of Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister will soon address two election rallies at Jaunpur and Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth ground in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi. PM Modi has started a road show from the Banaras Hindu University gate. He will make his way towards Kashi Vishwanath Temple where he will offer prayers. He will also offer prayers later at the Kaal Bhairav temple and then address a rally later in the evening in the city.

Security has been beefed up in the city and officials of the elite Special Protection Group (SPG) are camped in the city to ensure Modi’s protection.

Varanasi region has 40 seats spread across even districts and BJP is facing a tough electoral battle in the Varanasi North and Varanasi South assembly constituency. The crucial Varanasi region will go polls on the seventh-phase which is scheduled to take place on March 8 in which around 46 constituencies covering seven districts of Uttar Pradesh will cast their vote.
