Srinagar: Moderate Hurriyat Conference today slammed the PDP-BJP coalition government over the attacks on Muslim community in Jammu and Kashmir. “Uptill now, Kashmiris were attacked outside Jammu and Kashmir, in other parts of India, but now thanks to the coalition (government), Kashmiri Muslims are attacked almost everyday in their state, under a well-planned strategy,” Hurriyat Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said at Jamia Masjid here.

Mirwaiz said, “RSS goons rule the roost”, be it in Jammu, Poonch, Rajouri or Udhampur, with the complete support and patronage of local administration. He said Kashmiri truckers and travellers are attacked, beaten and their vehicles set ablaze in these areas, while the government “looks the other way”.

Mirwaiz slammed the government for “supporting elements bent upon damaging the Muslim-majority character of the state”. Meanwhile, independent MLA from Langate Sheikh Abdul Rashid also criticised the state government for Kalakot incident in which two Kashmir-based vehicles were torched.

“There seems to be Jungle Raaj in Jammu province and police is acting like private army of Sangh Parivaar,” Rashid alleged.

(Chief Minister) Mufti (Mohammad Sayeed) seems to have given control of Jammu in the hands of these goons, as a part of his agenda for alliance, he said.

“It is ironic how life of bovine animals becomes more precious than that of humans,” he said. Rashid said even if the allegation that the accused persons were carrying bovine animals in their vehicles were true, the goons had not authority to burn their vehicles and attempt to kill them.

“Jammu administration is offering full support to these goons and that is why these incidents do not stop, he added.
