Srinagar: A militant hideout was busted in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district and some arms and ammunition were recovered from it, Army said today. Based on a specific intelligence input, Army and Police launched a joint search operation in a forested area near village Mugalpura in Kupwara yesterday, which resulted in recovery of a huge cache of arms, ammunition and war-like stores, Defence spokesman Lt Colonel N N Joshi said here.

Joshi said concerted search of the area was carried out and a hideout was unveiled under the trunk of a tree. The search resulted in the recovery of one AK 56 Rifle, one Pika Belt without rounds, one Chinese pistol, seven UBGL Grenades, two Pakistani Grenades, two Smoke Grenades, one Chinese Grenade, 54 M-16 Rifle Rounds and two Radio Sets, the spokesman said.
