FOLLOW US:

Late chief minister of Tamil Nadu and chief of AIADMK Jayalalithaa has worked in more than 140 films before turning to full time politician. Jayalalithaa was the queen of Tamil Cinema before becoming the matriarch of Tamil politics . On the other hand, Jayalalithaa’s biggest political opponent late DMK leader M Karunanidhi was also one of the top writers in the industry, before turning to politics. But the question arises have they ever worked together in any films.

Jayalalithaa made her debut in Tamil cinema with the film Vennira Aadai in 1965. Karunanidhi was  successful and much sought after script writer in the industry, but not around the time Jayalalithaa was a rising star. By this time he was already engaged full time in politics, and was not very active in films.

However, in the year 1966, Tamil actor S.Rajendran directed a film Mani Makudam where Jayalalithaa  played a second female lead in the movie , and M.Karunanidhi happened to be the writer of the film as stated in the official IMDb page of the film.

So yes, the political rivals have worked together in a film.
