Jamshedpur: Two minor girls were allegedly raped in Jharkhand’s Seraikela-Kharswan and West Singhbhum district, police said today. A 55-year-old man lured a 11-year-old girl to a lonely place and raped her in Seraikela-Kharswan district on Wednesday, the police said.
After the girl narrated her ordeal to her parents, they lodged a complaint against the accused at Rajnagar police station. Based on the complaint, the police lodged a case against the accused under different sections of IPC and Pocso Act and arrested him, they said. In the second incident, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by six persons including four minors in West Singhbhum district, police said.
The girl was grazing her cattle when the six accused allegedly raped her on July 26. But the case was registered yesterday as the accused had threatened the girl to keep quite. The parents of the girl registered a case against the accused after the girl narrated the incident to them, police said adding that four minors and a man, who were named in the complaint were arrested.
The four minors were sent to remand home, they said adding that a hunt was on to arrest one more accused, who was at large. In another incident, a driver of a school van was thrashed by local residents here for allegedly eve teasing a class 6 student here yesterday, police said. The local residents caught hold of the accused and thrashed him before handing over to the police, sources said adding that a case under relevant section of IPC and Pocso Act was registered against the accused, who suffered injuries in the incident.
