CS, DG convene meetings of superintendents of 11 central jails
Lists of short-term, long-term requirements prepared
BHOPAL: A meeting of all central jail superintendents and officers of the jail department was held on Friday. It was convened by the chief secretary. It was proposed in the meeting that there should be only 10 percent reservation for women on the posts of constables in place of the present 30 per cent.
DG Jail, Sanjay Choudhary, informed Free Press, that the chief secretary BP Singh reviewed the demand of jail administrations. In first phase the three member team will conduct security audit of all 11 jails. The report will be submitted within ten days.
The next long term planning will submitted along with the budgetary demands. In the police force only 10 per cent reservation is given in constable-level recruitments.
Earlier the DG Jail, Sanjay Choudhary also took the meeting of the superintendents and listed the shortcomings. In the meeting the superintendents presented their security assessment reports.
In the meeting it is decided to divide the demands into two parts, first immediate requirements and second regarding the long term requirements.
The gadgets like walkie-talkie, vehicle and watch tower, are needed immediately. The jails have very old vehicles and in emergency they are not able to deal with the situation.
To keep in communication in the jail, the walkie-talkies are one of the best communication gadgets. Watch towers are equally important to keep eye on any exit and entrance of any wanted and unwanted person.
The long term planning includes appointment of man power, building constructions, boundary wall constructions, security system and other needs.
The department is preparing the budget estimate which will be present to the government for the approval.
