Imphal man missing since 40 years found on the streets of Mumbai, thanks to social media

Khomdram Gambhir from Imphal has been missing from his home since forty years but now he has been spotted in Mumbai and will be back to his home town soon. Gambhir disappeared from his home without any reason and left his family in shock. But now a street photographer uploaded a  video which he had shot of Gambhir on his social media account in last year.

On Saturday, Gambhir’s nephew saw the video and came running to family and informed them but the family is unable to bring him back due to financial difficulties. However the video also grabbed the attention of Aheibam Dinamani, an assistant professor at NERIST university of Arunachal Pradesh and informed the family about the Manipur man living on the streets of Mumbai.

At the same time Aheibam Dinamani tweeted to Mumbai Police to seek help and requested the police to trace Gambhir and bring him back.

“Hi @MumbaiPolice, This man was untraceable for around 40 years and his family has been looking for him. This video taken by a photographer at Bandra has surfaced. Please help in finding him. Family can be contacted at **********,” she tweeted.

Mumbai Police successfully traced him and further helped the family in getting in touch.

“Thanks @MumbaiPolice for locating the man and safeguarding him in your custody. His family will bring him back to Imphal after 40 years. Thanks everyone for your help,” Aribam later wrote on Twitter.

Khomdram Gambhir has served in Manipur rifles for seven years and left home after he separated from his wife with two months of marriage.
