Earlier this week a local Malayalam newspaper reported the story of a college going, fish selling girl which has warmed hearts in Kerala. Matrabhumi one of the longest selling newspapers in the states reported on Wednesday about the difficult circumstances of Hanan in her life, she is a third-year chemistry student belonging to a private college in Idukki.
According to the story, Hanan’s day starts by waking up at 3 am. An hour later she reportedly cycles to the Chambakkara wholesale market to buy fish. She then travels to Thammanam in Kochi to stock the fish at an acquaintance’s house. after all the running she returns home, gets ready and takes the bus to her Alasar college , which is 60 km away from her home in Thodupuzha. After spending her all day in lectures, Hanan takes the bus back to Thammanam to sell the fish she bought in the morning before leaving for home again.
According to Matrabhumi hanan’s life changed when her parents got divorced, her father was an alcoholic and her mother was mentally-disturbed. The reports say that Hanan’s use to take tuition to pay for her school fees. She also have interest in acting, dubbing, poetry and the martial art of Kalaripayattu.
Within hours of appearing on paper her story took a boom especially on social media, where thousands of people applauded for her courage and determination many actors and politicians too came forward to praise the girl. Arun Gopy, who is directing an upcoming film, has even reportedly offered Hanan a role.
Though there are some people on Facebook who think that this story is not true. Abusive comments and threats have flooded her Facebook account, people say that she made up this story to get a role in movies.
“They are criticising me without knowing the reality. I am a poor girl who worked to eke out a living. My troubles began in the 7th standard. I have done dubbing, acted as a junior artist and took part in event management functions as a flower girl. But I have never approached a director or even knew anyone,” Hanan told the Mathrubhumi news channel, crying.
